LVDT and LVIT sensors with free cores consist of the (generally cylindrical) sensor body with the measurement coil and the separate immersion core (usually rod-shaped), which can be attached to the movable object to be measured.
The measurements are wear-free because they are performed with a free core which moves axially and is very simple to adjust without any contact. As a result, precise measurements can be made with the LVDT as well as with the LVIT, without affecting the object measured. The immersion cores of most of the sensor series with free cores are provided with a PTFE coating as an additional wear-prevention. This can be renewed if damaged.
The immersion core is an integral component of the sensor scope of delivery, as well as a counter plug for variants with a plug connection; thus neither need to be ordered separately.
